For anyone who doesn’t already know and appreciate the fascinating videos from TED- you’re in for a treat! In just 15 minutes (on average) these videos can give you the confidence to achieve your goals, the motivation to do what you’ve always wanted to do and the ability to understand other people’s perspectives- challenging our own biased opinions. To me, these videos are the epitome of self-care entertainment. Every single video result in an emotional response- the majority of which include goose bumps and a huge bundle of inspiration.

So, what is TED?

Here is the mission statement taken directly from the TED website,

“TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. On TED.com, we’re building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired thinkers — and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other, both online and at TED and TEDx events around the world, all year long.

In fact, everything we do — from our Conferences to our TED Talks to the projects sparked by The Audacious Project, from the global TEDx community to the TED-Ed lesson series — is driven by this goal: How can we best spread great ideas?

TED is owned by a non-profit, nonpartisan foundation. Our agenda is to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation.”

And spark conversation is exactly what they do. I have attempted to narrow down some of my favourite TED talks (which was WAY more difficult than I expected!). I think I’ll need to do a NO. 2 of this post- but for now, here’s a few of my favourites for you to enjoy!

So lets start with my favourite talks about M E N T A L H E A L T H :

RUBY WAX- What’s so funny about Mental Illness?

ELEANOR LONGDEN- The voices in my head.

JON RONSON- Strange answers to the psychopath test.

KEVIN BRIGGS- The bridge between suicide & life.

And now some to give us S O M E T H I N G T O T H I N K A B O U T :

JUSTIN BALDONI- Why I’m done trying to be “man enough”.

CAMERON RUSSELL- Looks aren’t everything. Believe me, I’m a model.

HAYLEY QUINN- Searching for love to escape ourselves.

AMAL KASSIR- The Muslim on the airplane.

Finally, just because it’s F A S C I N A T I N G :

PAMELA MEYER- How to spot a liar.

STEPHEN PETRANEK- Your kids might live on Mars. Here’s how they’ll survive.

RUBEN MEERMAN- The mathematics of weight loss.

Ok, ok- I’ll stop now. I think that’s enough to keep you going! Let me know what your favourite TED talks are OR what you think of these ones if you’re a TED first-timer.

As always, thanks for reading and until next time,

Love, Kayleigh Rose x
